WHILE Dwight Yorke has been pontificating over his return to Sydney FC, cheeky English Championship club Plymouth Argyle put in a cheeky bid for the striker.
New Pilgrims boss Ian Holloway revealed last week that he tried to sign the former Trinidad and Tobago skipper from the A-League champion, but was priced out of a move for the 34-year-old.
Yorke hinted during the World Cup in Germany that he might move back to England, where he plied his trade with English Premier League giant Manchester United after starting at Aston Villa.
"After this I'll take a holiday before I decide on anything," he told Scotland's Daily Record during the tournament.
"I've spoken to Terry Butcher because he's the new manager. He called me before the England game to tell me what his thoughts and plans are for the club."
At the time, Yorke said he was just concentrating on his World Cup campaign, rather than thinking about any A-League issues. But his indecision, and an impressive showing at Germany 2006, attracted the attention of Holloway.
The Pilgrims, though, eventually conceded his club had no chance of finding the cash to pay him.
"Dwight Yorke is on £1 million ($2.43 million) a year," Holloway told the club's website.
"I thought that it would be a good idea and I could see if I could talk him into coming here, but deary me."

I'd like to see Yorke back in England, but I think this is not going to happen

Possibly the worst mistake I've seen in an article. Doesnt make sense nor sound right.

It sounds ok to me but dont blame me the good people over at Skysports provided that article. The over use of the word Cheeky twice in 1 sentance is not perfect english I'll admit that.
