Houllier from Lyon?

I'd try Terry Butcher!

yeah Houllier from Lyon. Butcher would be ok but I would rather the frenchman because had success with France and is good with youth development which this country needs.

Now is time to rebuild: Hiddink

Quote:
GUUS Hiddink last night warned Australian fans to expect a dip in results as the Socceroos side is overhauled ahead of the qualifying campaign for the next World Cup.

With a tranche of the squad knocked out by Italy on Tuesday morning expected to retire, Hiddink said it was vital for the Olympics in 2008 to be used as a training ground to prepare players for the rigours of what will be Australia's first qualifying campaign through the Asian confederation.

He warned that while the current generation of players had made huge strides at this World Cup, the regeneration of the game in Australia lagged behind and would affect the future national team.

"A consequence of what has been achieved (at the World Cup) is that they are now on top of a mountain regarding the team's performance but we are not on top of the mountain in terms of organisation and structure," he said.

"So there will be a little fall from the top of the mountain into the valley in terms of performance because you have to change the team."

Hiddink warned that the temptation to keep together much of the existing side had to be tempered by the need to blood youngsters early enough to give them international experience.

"Players who are around 30 or more, you cannot deal with in the next project," he said. "You can say we keep this team together but when you have relative success, I think it's always wrong to go on with that same team.

"Now you are going into a period where 2010 is the next target but in between there is the Olympics in Beijing in 2008.

"You have to renew several spots in the team, and the next two years is the time to do that, so you can use the Olympics as a very good preparation for the qualifying round in 2008-09."

Hiddink also said that one player who would be around in 2010, Luke Wilkshire, needed to move to a higher league to realise his potential.

Hiddink has consistently selected Wilkshire to the surprise of fans, and the midfielder rewarded Hiddink with an accomplished display against Italy.

Although publicly critical of Wilkshire's rash challenge on Giovanni van Bronckhurst that earned him a red card n Rotterdam on June 4, the Dutchman has privately described Wilkshire as one of the most technically gifted members of his squad.

"He doesn't know his own possibilities because he is a modest player, too modest," said Hiddink.

"But when you see him playing (against Italy) he wasn't a star player but doing a very good job. This guy should play in a proper league, Belgium or Holland.

When pressed on whether he would assist the midfielder in finding another club at a better level, Hiddink said he would offer any assistance he could, if requested.

"He's a very good team player who can help players more in the picture do their job. If he asks me and I have contacts, then I will draw attention to him."

Hiddink revealed he farewelled his players in true Dutch fashion after the game.

"We had a late night, I just woke up," he said. "We played cards until 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, I taught them a Dutch game so we said goodbye with a game of cards.

"There was one lady playing with us, a friend of mine. In life, tough men are beaten always by ladies. I won rather a lot of games with the Australian boys but last night I was beaten by her."
